Here’s one of our latest videos. FreshNeck was created to solve a simple problem - the traditional way of owning and wearing neckwear is stale and inefficient. Purchasing ties at retail prices is expensive, and wearing the same ties over and over again in a “rotation” is boring. Not to mention the inconvenience of going to the store to sort through hundreds of ties with only the help of a biased salesperson. The modern man deserves better.

With FreshNeck, guys can finally have access to designer accessories - Ties, Bow Ties, Pocket Squares, Cufflinks, and more - in a convenient and affordable way. We combine top brands, style advice, recommendations, and unparalleled convenience, with modern technology to deliver a revolutionary experience that will change the way guys view their wardrobe. It’s like Netflix, but for ties and other men’s accessories.

RED EPIC is Truly Epic

image

Let me start off by saying I love cameras in general, they are the tools of the trade and are truly wonderful machines.  Last week I got to use the RED EPIC.  I was very excited getting my hands on it because it is a dream camera that everyone at least wants to use once.  The Epic is an amazing camera, it has wonderful dynamic range and latitude.  Also being able to shoot in a RAW format is something I find incredible because its is so easy to fix in post.  At first using the Epic can feel slighty overwhelming because there is so much more to it.  Plus I felt this humble factor feeling honored that I was using the same camera that films like “The Social Network”, “The Amazing Spiderman”, and others have used.  The camera honestly puts out beautiful images that reminded me of a “film-look”.  I am excited and totally looking forward to working with a RED Epic here at SituatioNormal.

Three Steps for Improving Your Brand’s Social Media Presence via Instagram

image

There is no question that Instagram is one of the hottest social media platforms today and a power component to a brand’s social media marketing strategy. With over 100 million monthly active users, Instagram sees about 40 million photos uploaded per day, 8,500 likes per second, and 1,000 comments per second.

Here are six tips for improving your brand’s social media presence through Instagram:

1. Understand the Increased Importance of Image Links – Since Instagram removed support for Twitter cards, images no longer display within tweets when you tweet out an Instagram link. This means that more users are now actually clicking through that link to access that image.

2. Add a Website Link to Your Profile – With so many people using Instagram on a daily basis, it’s probably a good idea to have your website on your company’s Instagram account. People visiting your Instagram account will have access to your full website, not to mention the SEO benefits of having a site such as Instagram.com linking back to your brand’s website.

3. Use the Proper Hashtags when Posting Images – Just like Twitter, Instagram also uses hashtags for ways to search images. Make sure that your images are properly tagged with the appropriate hashtags so that you show up in search results when those hashtags are put into a search query. This will make your images visible to more users which could mean more followers, likes, and comments.

We’re packing up and moving to a bigger and better space. After spending the past few years here on Pine Street in Montclair, we’re upgrading our digs to a new spot a few blocks away. We’ve got some great new things in the works for the new year and all we have to say is look out for…

Happy Holidays!

Thanks to Mashable, we recently came across this infographic on how social media and viral video are saving the film industry. Do you agree?

This Saturday, we’ll be attending TEDxHobokenWomen at Room 84 in Hoboken, NJ. It would be awesome if you came also. You can RSVP here: http://tedxhobokenwomen.eventbrite.com/ If you want more info on TEDxHoboken, check out their site.

Mark Zuckerberg and his cronies, aka the people responsible for the Facebook changes that users have developed love-hate relationships with, are currently experimenting with ranking the comments on posts in which the most appealing comments – the ones that have the highest number of “likes” – are placed at the beginning of the conversation sparked from the original post. On one hand, this feature appears to be Facebook’s attempt to provide its users with an efficient way to read a post’s most interesting information at first glance. From the other point of view, ranking the comments may often distort the conversation’s flow and take certain responses out of context. But, let’s sit on the fence for a moment and consider both sides of Facebook’s experiment.

One the positive side, the comments with the greatest number of “likes” will be at the top of a post’s feed to catch the eyes of readers just entering the conversation after two, three, or even 500 comments have been written. Certain comments get “liked” for a reason – they garnered attention. It is likely
that the comments ranked closest to the original post are the most relevant, informative, emotionally charged, thought-provoking, or even controversial. Despite the potential benefits, new readers may have trouble following the conversation created via comments since the listing will probably have little to no chronological order. The new readers may not realize which previous comment another is referring to if the first few comments only received a handful (if any) “likes” and made their way towards the bottom of an abyss of comments and “likes.”

In reference to the responses left on an article about this topic on mashable.com, it seems safe to say there will be a fair amount of both fans and complainers of Facebook’s new sorting system for comments – if it passes the experimental stage. Whatever happened to “don’t fix what isn’t broken”?
